Why is DynastyNet offering hosting? Back to the topAfter putting up with several webhosts that have either ripped us off or gone out of buisness, dachmo purchased a machine and secured co-location for it for the network to use for it's website. Eboard was approached to see if it would be interested in offering webhosting to the network's users for a discounted price in order to pay for this hosting. We decided to let the users of the network benefit from this and offer the hosting as cheap as we could.

How reliable will this hosting be? Back to the top
The people we purchased this space and bandwidth from guarantees 99.9% uptime. It's on multiple fiber optic uplinks (4 redunant connections) and we are guarnteed a 100mbps connection. We are running Fedora Core 3. This hosting is just as reliable, if not more, as any other hosting company.

Why is there a price difference between the standard and discounted hosting plans? Back to the top
Since DynastyNet is an IRC network first and foremost, and we know we wouldn't be here without the people who use our network, we wanted to give something back to them in the form of cheap reliable webhosting. It is our hope that this will show those who use our network how much we appreciate them and their continued support of the network. Anyone can become eligible for the discount, you just have to download mIRC, install it and type /server irc.dynastynet.net to connect. Once you have been on the network for 2 months you automatically become eligible for this discount.

What if I don't chat, or am going to start, can I still get the discount? Back to the top
If you don't chat on the network and would still like to receive the discount you can email Eboard with why you feel you should be offered the discounted prices and they will let you know after their weekly Sunday meeting. If you are going to start chatting on the DynastyNet IRC network, we can probably give you the discount without waiting the two months. Anyone with the discount must be active on the network for the discount to apply to their account.

Chances are we can work something out, unlike most webhosting companies we aren't out to make a fortune in this effort. Email Eboard with your situation, and what you can pay, if anything. We can't guarantee we will host your site, but we will at least respond.

What if I want a refund and I pre-paid [ 6 months, one year ]? Back to the top
If you happen to want a refund because you are unhappy with our services you must send an email to our cancelation department and state why you want to cancel your account, your account login name, your account security code for verification, and when you want it canceled. We will then send you the remaining months left on your account, based on our refund policy. The refund will be sent to you in the same format you paid it.

Why can't I have [ warez, mp3's, movies, porn ] on my site? Back to the top
DynastyNet is a family orientated network and the same rules that apply to our network apply to our webhosting. Even if we wanted to let you have warez, mp3's, movies, porn, etc. it isn't allowed on the servers we have space on. If we find it or it is reported it will be deleted. We reserve the right to check every sites content for violations.

What are you going to do with the money you make on this? Back to the top
The first thing we are going to do is pay the bills for this webhosting. Provided we do that we are going to pay the bill for the domain name dynastynet.net and try to pay for a few of the servers we have linked here. We also have plans on awarding prizes to the winners of contests we hold on occasion, such as the banner design contest and the website design contest. We'd like to be able to award computer hardware or cash prizes to the winners. Whatever money we make on this will be turned back into the network to help it become self sustaining so that no matter who leaves the network will always be around.

What is an addon domain and why do you charge 25% of the account cost? Back to the top
An addon domain allows you to host another domain name and point it to a sub-directory on your account. Anyone visiting this new domain name would never know that it was hosted in a sub-directory of the main account. It's essentially another hosting account, but it uses the bandwidth and space on the current plan.
Example: http://www.dynhosting.net is the main account. I setup an addon domain of www.mynewhosting.com and point it to a sub-directory called newhosting. The site can now be accessed in two ways, http://www.mynewhosting.com or http://www.dynhosting.com/newhosting/. (Links are not real)

Ok, I've got an account, how do I get to my Control Panel? Back to the top
To access your control panel, simple type in your domain name and add :2222 to the end of it. Example: www.mydomain.com:2222 Then just login with your username and password.
